medical week
It's going to be a bad week. Lots of medical activities on the calendar, starting tomorrow with a visit to the diabetic doctor in the afternoon. This will include a weigh in, which won't be pretty after the bronchitis filled year of 2006 that prevented hardly any exercising. Now that I'm not coughing constantly, I began using the ski machine last week, but it's barely made a dent, though my jeans are a bit looser. I'll go down to the hospital for blood tests after leaving the doctor's office, but i don't mind that. There's even a large aquarium in the waiting room.
Friday is my rescheduled colonoscopy, so Thursday I'll be on clear liquids only & in the evening must drink that harsh laxative that tastes like metal & burns through my system. Ick! It's in a huge gallon jug & at least half of it must be consumed. Friday morning is the colonoscopy itself, which I'm trying not to get hysterical about like I usually do. This will be the fourth or fifth time of having it done & I'm a wreck every time. My anxiety burns off the drugs that are supposed to put me to sleep, so hopefully the doctor will give me extra. I'm still never out the entire time. The last time I was actually making music requests during the procedure. The doctor usually has a CD on while he does stuff & evidently I thought Enya would be just the ticket. At least I wasn't divulging any deep, dark secrets.
Well, I must hop on the ski machine for today's session, maybe I'll lose 20 pounds this time around? In my dreams!

My gastro doc allows the citrate of magnesia swallow for colon exam. How's come you have to have so many? I got a reprieve of 5 yrs. last time and I'm 67.
My primary doesn't insist on weigh in's. I handed his nurse a note with my weight and she just laughed as she took it. I refuse to get on a scale out in the hall for the world to see.
rcy: I could picture doing that crafty thing for a tree decoration. LOL
I have a pre-op appointment tomorrow and am not looking forward to it.
Sorry this is going to be such a bad week for you-but your in my prayers that everything will be ok. I have to have that done some day soon to. Thank you for your sweet comments about my aunt and her eyes.
Hi. Nice blog!
I hope you are well.
Good luck. I hope everything goes ok and as comfortably as possible.
If you fly to some of the smaller islands where I live you have to tell the air stewardess your weight and then she tells you where to sit on the plane. If you tell her an obvious lie, she is likely to repeat your weight out loud several times in a jokey, questioning way. If you don't know your weight you have to step on the scales by the boarding gate and then she announces it to the world. It was terribly embarrassing.
I think of you drinking , perhaps at this moment this delicious laxative drink . Poor Jackie . Colonoscopy is certainly not a moment of fun . Fortunatly there is the music .
Courage !

RYC: Thank you for the kind words! I am lucky to have a good instructor! Have a beautiful day!
I know what you mean about missing exercise when you are sick....I haven't done much in the past week.
I have a colonoscopy in my future. I've never had one. O joy!
