  • down time

Things aren't going well.  I can't get anyone to do anything about the noise from the neighbors upstairs. The loud buzzing alarm is now joined with extended vacuuming in the wee hours, multiple times a day, often beginning at 3:30 am. The police tell me to contact the condo board, the board tells me to call the police, their landlord doesn't think it's a problem. None of them are trying to function on a few hours of interrupted sleep per night.

The CD with my entries I sent to Louisiana State University's Animals in Art  Exhibit didn't work on their computer, so my work wasn't even judged. This past week, all 3 of my entries were rejected in a local show.

The brakes need to be repaired on my car, which probably won't be done in time to go to a wildlife exhibit at a nature center with a friend on Tuesday. Hopefully we can reschedule. And to top it all off, I'm a year older as of Friday. The actual birthday was quite nice, a good dinner, lots of fun gifts, numerous well wishes in ecards & paper ones.  Turned out to be of my better birthdays, really.

I'm trying not to get depressed about all the things going wrong, but it's not really working. I tried venting to my mother about it, but apparently she skipped that chapter in the Mothering Guidebook, so I'm forced to turn to strangers on the internet for a boost. How sad is that? Aauugh!

  • I am so sorry you can't get any action about the noise. Its my experience (mostly as a landlord) that you cannot really do anything at all about bad tenants except get rid of them and if no one wants to do that, then even if you modify one behaviour they do some other sh*t.

Have you heard of white noise machines?   NaturesTapestry sells quite a few different ones - the in-ear ones are probably the best, expensive but they have reconditioned ones and you might get one cheaper on eBay.

  • That is so very annoying to be awakened and not able to get a good night's sleep.  Maybe the idea of white noise might be the solution.  Not getting enough sleep will affect your entire outlook.

You are brave for entering your artworks.  It takes several rejections before success.  I wish I could learn that lesson.  I fear rejection and failure so badly that I don't even try anything new.  Keep on trying.  Good for you.

I always think of the successful authors who had rejection slip after rejection slip and I think of Charles Schultz who received so many rejections before someone finally had the brains to accept his peanuts cartoons.  Judges!?  Who are these people anyway.?

    Keep on going.

    Have a good week ahead.

    Fran

  • Perhaps you can bang on the floor with a broom handle?

Wondering why they couldn't read your CD, did they say by any chance? Would of been nice for someone to let you know so you could re-submit.

  • Hope that things pick up...

  • Thanks for stopping by again

Hope everything is going ok your way.

And hopeing that the people up stairs is keeping the noise down.

You take care and hope that you have a good week.
