Talked to the vet today, it was not good news. The urinalysis showed blood & a heavy infection, as well as crystals confirming bladder stones. So Rufus will definitely have to have surgery & it's scheduled for next Friday.If he gets worse, she'll squeeze him in sooner.
I picked up an antibiotic(Baytril) to start him on, as she wants to lessen the infection before the operation. He gets it once a day, which will keep the wrestling to a minimum.
I'm very nervous about the anesthesia. She said 1 in 20 piggies have a bad reaction to it, which seems quite high to me. Please keep us both in your thoughts & prayers, it's going to be a tense week.

That isn't good news. Poor Rufus. I hope the antibiotics help him start to get better. It seems that surgery is the only option.
I hope the vet can give him something before the surgery to keep him comfortable and not scared. It's nice that he liked her at that last visit. I'm sure she'll do her best.

Oh dear, I've just learnt that poor little Rufus has to be operated and I rush to write to you! I will pray that the surgery will go very smoothly and that he will be fully recovered soon. Oh poor you, and Rufus. Hope he takes his meds better than Max does, we just figured to heck with it Max is now afraid of our hands. Poor bird.
I hope Rufus comes through it really well and that he isn't in too much pain.
