  • absent

Sorry I've not updated in so long, but I've reduced the time I spend online sinc emy eye has been  painful the last week or so & seems to be getting worse. I'm going to try to get an appointment with the eye doctor before the end of the week, because I'm getting worried.

Besides that, a lot of things are going wrong and it's causing a tremedous amount of stress, which I can't  deal with, especially since the vacuuming upstairs is still interferring with my sleep. My mother started some new meds and they are making her mental illness worse and constantly argumentative, someone is slashing the tires of my car as it sits in the garage, there's a stray cat around that I'm feeding but am unable to catch and a host of things I need to get done, but have hardly any energy.

I feel like crying most of the time, I'm in a bad frame of mind. I'm sure I'll feel better in a couple weeks, but right now I'm just not able to post. Sorry.

  • Large Works

Last Thursday I installed an exhibit of all of my largest paintings at Fairview Library. It's in the downstairs hall where all of the meeting rooms are located, as well as employee spaces. There's at least one meeting everyday & a book sale next weekend, so a lot more folks will be seeing my work than anticipated.

             Fairview 08, long wall

The gallery area comprises a short wall at the bottom of the stairs  & long wall partially behind the stairs, but not blocked by them, as you can see in the photo. It's about 15 feet of wall altogether, room for plenty  of pictures. People will be confronted with the shark as they round the corner of the staircase, which ought to grab their attention & then turn to see the rest.

Everyone at the library was extremely nice & I got lots of compliments after hanging my work. Even if nothing sells, it will still be a positive show experience for me because of that. The exhibit is there until Feb. 5th, so anything is possible.

        card door 07

I've been taking down the holiday decorations, but before I did, I took a photo of my card door. There were fewer cards this year, people not sending due to cost or health reasons, but I still got enough to fill the door. Besides many U.S. states, there were cards from Australia, Scotland, Germany, Canada, England & a handmade one from Finland, over 30 cards in all. Snowpeople was the popular trend this year and a lot of American cards had cardinals. The bright red birds showed up well on the festive greetings. I belong to a group devoted to squirrels & as always, there was many featuring those bushy tails.  Having the cards up lets me enjoy the pictures on them & think fondly of the sender, it also adds zing to the room. But even when I take them down, I always put them away carefully as keepsakes.
