  • new year, same old disorganization

Each year I say that I'm going to be a better blogger and each year I write less. Besides this blog, I also have one devoted entirely to my art at Live Journal called "Sketches" . No one reads it, but I created it mainly for myself, as a sort of diary to chart my projects and ideas. Sometimes I cross post the same piece at both blogs, which feels like cheating. Looking back over the art blog, I can see patterns of how and when I do things that are intriguing. I began it a few years after this one, in June of 2005. If you want to read it, just click on the word sketches.
My latest entry lists my arty goals for the coming year. Exciting, eh?

As usual, I am still trying to get the holiday decorations away. By last weekend, they were all down, but they're not yet in boxes. My arthritis has been hurting when I try to do things, so that's making things go slower. But I'm starting to get annoyed by all of the sparkly little piles of decorations in the corners of the living room.
It always looks so blah after I've taken the decorations down. I even tape my Christmas cards to the door of this room, which is in view while I'm online. Once the cards are removed, the tan door looks so big and bare.

Ohio had a big snowstorm beginning on New Year's Eve, leaving several inches on the ground. For a few days, there would be a light new coating of snowflakes falling everyday, just to keep everything looking crisp and clean. It was very pretty and made the ceilings so bright at night after the lights were out. The warmer temperatures of the last 2 sunny days have melted all but the largest piles of snow, so it feels very dark now. Adding to it, is the lack of parking lot lights, which have been out since last April after a delivery truck knocked over one section of the garages. That part has been rebuilt and lights installed, but they've not yet been turned on for unknown reasons.
