  • February antique show

In February, my sister & I went to an antique show at a local high school. There wasn't as many vendors & some of the ones that were there were grumpy, probably because business was really slow. Though it was in an upscale neighborhood, the prices still seemed rather steep. My sister was disappointed at the selection. I found some nice things, I just couldn't afford them. There were things from all over the world, like these boxes from Russia, which were intricately painted.
There were a lot of dog items, such as this beautiful sculpture made of soapstone with a Scottish theme.

One of my favorite pieces was an inkwell from the 1880's, which was glass with a gold colored bison. I imagined it was something which would've appealed to Teddy Roosevelt.

My sister was appalled at the sight of antique curling irons that had to be put into the fire to heat them for use.We both liked a collection of tea cups with flowers, such as morning glories, painted on.Some of the things we weren't sure what they were, such as this gigantic ceramic pot, I'm guessing it was a soup tureen? The stained glass windows behind it were nice too.

Despite the high prices & fewer displays, I still had a good time looking at everything, it was something interesting to do on a winter afternoon.
