I've downloaded a batch of photos, which includes all of the framed artwork I did at the end of last year & will be posting them in the coming weeks. First up is my newest chipmunk painting, a little rodent I've painted many times before. This is very small 8 inches by 6 inches & done in acrylic. That's a trillium blossom next to it, which is the reason I titled the picture "Spring Chippy".
My sister said the picture is way too dark & when I countered with the fact of some of Rembrandt's works being very dark, too, dismissed it. An aquaintance told me that chipmunks & other wildlife are supposed to blend into the background for safety's sake, so it was appropriate. I put it into a dark walnut frame & it's just the right size for the front of my display, where it won't block anything. I'd like to do another painting of the same size of a mouse or other small animal with a flower too, to make a set, but that will be some time in the future.
